RLSS National Pool Lifeguard G9

Course aim:

To provide participants with the skills required to act as as a lifeguard in a swimming pool environment.

Prerequistes:

At least 16 years of age on the day of the assessment
Be able to jump / dive in deep water
Swim continuously 100m on the front and back and tread water for 30 sec.
Surface dive to the floor at the deepest part of the pool
Climb out of the pool unaided without the use of the steps.

Course Objectives:

After this National Pool Lifeguard G9 course participants should be able:

To increase awareness of possible accidents and drowning
To be able to act promptly to a potential incident
To apply lifesaving technique as and when required
To apply basic first aid & CPR skills including the use of AED

Course Contents:

The principles of lifesaving and swimming pool supervision
The application of supervision and rescue in a swimming pool

Course Certification:

RLSS National Pool Pool Lifeguard Certificate. A world wide recognised qualification, valid for 2 years and must be renewed prior to the expiry date of the qualification.
